In early March, I was thinking over the Grow Your Dough Challenge that I had completed in 2019 and wondering what I should do next as a financial experiment. Stock market prices had started dropping. The end of February 2020 saw a dip in stock market prices. This came on the heels of a 10 year long bull market. For the last few months we’ve watched as many companies hit new 52 week highs. According to Market Watch, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 12.4%, the S&P 500 lost 11.5%, and the Nasdaq was down 10.5%. Some gains were made on Monday, March 3 as the market attempted to stabilize. Back in May 2019, I opened a new Trust account with TD Ameritrade. With the recent downturn in stock market prices, I was able to complete the process of buying five of the ETFs I had been keeping track of for this account. My goal with this account is to use up to 50% of the money that I gain from dividends and interest each year as charitable contributions for my favorite non-profit organizations for the following year.
